Electro Optical Terahertz Pulse Reflectometry (EOTPR) is an innovative time domain reflectometry (TDR) system that has been successfully developed by Intel Corporation and TeraView Ltd.

Electro Optical Terahertz Pulse Reflectometry It allows THz TDR analysis of semiconductor packages and offers a step change in resolution compared to conventional millimeter wave systems. The injected terahertz pulse reflects off faults within the device under test (DUT) locating their position with accuracy of 5μm.

The EOTPR 4000 system is configured with an automated probe station which is capable of placing the probe tip to +/- 5 μm precision, while maintaining the EOTPR’s world leading sub-5 μm fault isolation accuracy.

This combination allows users to directly probe TSV tips and copper pillars.

The EOTPR 5000 utilizes TeraView’s proprietary EOTPR technology to detect interconnect quality with the full automation, rapid measurement speed and high throughput required in today’s high volume manufacturing environments. Moreover, it is the only IC interconnect inspection technique currently available that operates at the forefront of location accuracy and detection sensitivity.

Contained within a single box, the TeraPulse 4000 is a lighter, smaller bench- top unit capable of performing Terahertz (THz) transmission and reflection measurements compatible with all of TeraView's existing modules. Using TeraView's proprietary semiconductor based technology and offering market leading signal-to-noise, the TeraPulse offers a quality signal up to 4 THz, typically 4.5 THz. The option of extending this beyond 7 THz also exists.
